History

Shewe Wana suite resort chiang mai is located on Charoen Muang Road, just minutes from the famous Night Bazaar and Railroad station. This is also known as the San Pa Khoi area, originally inhabited by the small Ban-tha-sa-toy community (near the back of the current day market). When the railway was built, many Chinese immigrants moved from Bangkok and set up businesses in the area. Some popular exports were rice, pig, tobacco and sealing wax. Popular imports from Bangkok were salt, sugar, shrimp paste, and even bikes. Our resort, built in 2009, was previously known as the Puet Kasikam Cooperative, created in 1931. This cooperative served as a central hub of commerce when the Chiang Mai railroad was a main source transportation. Since then, the Cooperative building has been remodeled to serve as the resorts reception building.you can look at the old days pictures at the reception area.
